~ Close Up On Cats ~

8 Did you know tt...

  • There are scent glands on the chin, temples and the corners of the mouth
as well as at the base of the tail.

  • Cats' sense of smell is much more sensitive than ours and the leaving of
scent messages for other cats is an important part of their language. Such
messages are left after a cat has rubbed against furniture and trees and objects outside at head height. The scent is thought to communicate to other cats
    that the area is 'taken'.

  • A cat will rub against his owner and other cats within his group, thus he both marks and is marked in return, forming a common bond.
